Todd Camp Cabin (Progress Report)

We are hopefull for snow like last year!!!

Nicole is working on the inside

We worked in the orchard today, mowing and trimming around the cabin.

A little down time today!

Next on the agenda is to finish painting, put on some door handles for the kitchen, seal the outside, and put up a couple of hand rails and a couple of hinges.

We are preparing for winter, I have cut and split a bunch of oak wood for the fireplace!!!!

Not much has changed here, (but a great picture!) OH, a couple of steaks are in the freezer, just in case you wanted to know.

The garden tub's custom 70 year old top has been installed.

The 70 year old oak flooring has been fully installed.

The 70 year old oak flooring has been installed.

Look what we done now!!!!  The tile is done!! The tile is done!!!

James has covered the air vent system with the old wood as well as mounted the lights better.

The mother in-law has found a guy to help the us paint and lay tile (His name is James!!!) For someone (That's me Todd, by the way) who HATES painting, this is GREAT NEWS.

Next is putting down the tile in the bathroom, wood flooring down in the bedroom (My Brother, Booker III donated 80 year old oak board that came out of the canning factory in Blue Eye.) and paint the bedroom.

The mother in-law has come and aided in the painting walls and ceiling of the master bathroom.

We have laid some the tile down (NOT cemented down yet) to get the full effect. Not bad huh?

Next is texture and paint for the downstairs. And then wood floors for the basement.

They came!! They came!! They tape and mudded the sheet rock in the bathroom and bedroom downstairs.

We have purchased a King size bed for the basement, after arriving home we remembered that the bed is 6'-6" wide and the access to the basement is 4'-0".... So.... we removed the stairs and placed the bed in the basement and re-assembled the stairs.

We have add 2 x 4's to fur out the walls and put up sheet rock in the bathroom and bedroom.

Redford Electric and his team has arrived, installed and finished the electricity to the cabin.

WOW, another outstanding job!! We now have hot water and central heat / air.

Josh Smith (C.S.R. Plumbing) has finished the plumbing!!!!!

The counter tops have been installed!! The cabinets need a second coat of paint, but in the mean time we will meet  Mr. Redford crew to install some wiring. While Mr. Hines is going to assist in basement walls and doors.

Josh Smith, the mighty plumber, has arrived, he has connected the shower, water closet, and sink downstairs. Nicole, Jeannie, and Regina have painted the cabinets.  Mark Spencer (part time cabinet guy) has installed the cabinets. AND John Hines (computer guy by day, wood worker/plane builder guy on weekends) has constructed the base for the downstairs sink. My Dad, Booker Cox in the photo below flew over to check on progress. He however did request the installation of an airstrip.

Just a foot note, Rain on a Tin roof is music to my ears!!

l  .

Nicole was the division chairman of spray painting.

Regina and Jeannie are chair-people of the brush painting division.

We have determined that Steve should do this full time, a true craftsman!!!

Steve is back!!! Steve is back!!! Wendell has dropped by to help as well!!

He finished trimming the doors and windows on the cabin, the floor is in, THE LOFT IS IN, the front porch is done as well. AND we have fresh clean water!!!

With much pushing, cutting and drilling, THE WINDOWS FIT!!

Click here to Read the cabinet story

(F.Y.I. - If you ever have to order windows, make sure the windows have more than 1/32" of breathing room between the rough opening!!!) At least I think that was what Steve said, as the picture below shows him making the rough opening larger!!.

Check out the cypress above the fireplace!!!!!

We have been taught by the master chinker, Steve

We are now applying our new found skills.

Larry is working wire to hold the chinking in place.

The cabinets have been delivered.... Story to follow tomorrow.

(Probably the funniest thing that has happened around here in a while)

Windows/doors, chinking is next.

Richard Morgan is the master at rock work!!!

This is what a 907 foot well looks like!!

Look it's our first neighbor dropping by.

The Roof is On!!!!  The Roof is On!!!

Todd and Steve putting on the insulation and the roof.

Darn these floors!!! Before I am done I will know every nick and nail hole in these boards.

It's in the dry!!! It's in the dry!!!

Look Marlene "NO HANDS!!!!"

After a couple days work,

Adjusting for one side of the cabin being 12" longer than the other,

and other minor adjustments, Steve has the first course of logs attached to the basement and 1/2 of the floor joists in.

We found THE MAN!! Steven has agreed to re-assemble the cabin!!!!

The basement has been poured.

Ready to assemble!!

So that's what 23 yards of concrete looks like, who knew?

The basement has been dug.

The 1500 foot ditch has been dug and conduct has been put in for electricity.

After several months it has arrived.
